Transana’s Import Media Files with Automated Transcription option is designed to simplify the process if importing media files by automating the process, by allowing the selection of several files at once, and by allowing the researcher to work on already-processed data while automated transcription, which sometimes requires processing time, proceeds in the background.

Embedded Automated Transcription

Transana’s Import Media Files with Automated Transcripts tool uses the embedded Faster Whisper automated transcription tool. Faster Whisper processes media files for transcription locally on the researcher’s computer. No data is submitted to an external server, so this routine maintains maximum security and confidentiality for your media data.

Background Processing

Automated transcription takes time. How much time it takes depends on many factors, including the length of your media file, the accuracy model selected, and the quality of the media file.

Transana’s Import Media Files with Automated Transcripts minimizes the impact of this by performing automated transcription as a background process. That means that you can work on previously imported data while Transana is generating new automated transcripts. You can close the Import Media Files with Automated Transcripts form, and Transana will display each new Episode and Transcript pair as the automated transcript is completed. However, if you close Transana, the automated transcription process will be interrupted.
