ADDITIONAL TABS IN THE DATA WINDOW

Additional Tabs in the Data Window

The Data Window does more than show you the Database Tree, where all of your data in Transana is organized and available for analytic modification. The Data Window shows additional information about whatever the data item was most recently selected. Different information is displayed, depending on the type of data being shown.

When a Text Document is selected, the Data Window displays three additional tabs.

The Document Items tab displays information from all Quotes created from that Document. If you double-click a Quote’s Position, that Quote will be highlighted in the Document. If you double-click the Quote ID, the Quote will be loaded into Transana’s main interface.

The Selected Items tab displays information from all Quotes created from the currently selected position in that Document.

The Keywords tab displays a list of all Keywords that have been applied as default Keywords to the Document. You can edit the list of Document default Keywords by right-clicking (ctrl-clicking on macOS) in the window and choosing Edit from the popup menu. You can delete a Document Default Keyword by right-clicking (ctrl-clicking on macOS) a Keyword in the list and selecting Delete from the menu.

When a PDF Document is selected, the Data Window displays one additional tab.

The PDF Selections tab displays information from all PDF Quotes and PDF Snapshots created from that PDF Document. If you double-click a Quote’s Position, that Quote will be highlighted in the Document. If you double-click the Item ID, the PDF Quote or PDF Snapshot selected will be loaded into Transana’s PDF Window.

When a video or audio Episode is selected, the Data Window displays three additional tabs.

The Episode Items tab displays information from all Clips created from that Episode and all Snapshots connected to the Episode. If you double-click the Clip’s Time, that Clip’s selection will be highlighted in the Transcript. If you double-click the Clip ID, the Clip will be loaded into Transana’s main interface.

The Selected Items tab displays information from all Clips created from the currently selected position in that Episode.

The Keywords tab displays a list of all Keywords that have been applied as default Keywords to the Episode. You can edit the list of Episode default Keywords by right-clicking (ctrl-clicking on macOS) in the window and choosing Edit from the popup menu. You can delete an Episode Default Keyword by right-clicking (ctrl-clicking on macOS) a Keyword in the list and selecting Delete from the menu.

The PDF Selections tab displays a list of all Coding that has been applied as to the PDF Quote. This may include whole Quote coding as well as the Text Selection used to create the PDF Quote. Double-clicking the Item ID will show you where this selection appears in the Database Tree.

When a PDF Snapshot is selected, the Data Window displays one additional tab.

The PDF Selections tab displays a list of all Coding that has been applied as to the PDF Snapshot. This may include whole Snapshot coding as well as any Coding Shapes that have been applied. Double-clicking the Item ID will show you where this selection appears in the Database Tree.
