If you are upgrading from version 1.xx to version 2.xx of Transana, this page explains how to migrate your data safely and efficiently to the new version.

Transana 2.0 uses a different database engine than the single-user version of Transana 1.x. This means that your original database is not in a format that is compatible with Transana 2.0. You need to migrate your data (export it to a compatible format) BEFORE you download and install your new version of Transana. Note that this process creates a new database that is compatible with Transana 2.0, but does not alter your original database (so rest assured that if something goes amiss, you won't lost your original data).
